  1. Oh holy crap. I listened to this like two weeks ago and never got around to giving a good comment. Let me just say it was BAD ASS.

First off, the dude gives the most complete, perfect synopsis of my entire current thinking process on culture and the capitalistic state. How can culture be defined when it is literally manufactured? What the fuck is culture now? Obviously Radiohead pulled the ultimate taboo with this concept brewing in mind. But it's relevancy was still inevitably filtered through so much OTHER crap. Where and how can significance be measured when the measurements themselves are under nearly identical jurisdiction? It's so freaking weird.

Second, this really got me going on crazy interesting podcasts. Kudos.

Third, in response to this, I started noticing this type cultural measurement in Korea, the perfect place for reflecting on hybridized capitalistic mutant culture. Take Spam. This is really interesting. During the Korean War, Spam, in all of its minced hog asshole chunk glory, was heavily imported by US forces as a food ration. Since then, and in some sort of transparent gratitude, South Korea has adopted Spam as an honorary part of their culture. The Korean holiday Chuseok (like our thanksgiving) celebrates this by literally selling boxed SETS of like 20 spam cans to be given as presents. Spam, in America, is like giving a cat AIDS and then making a hot dog out of it.
The contrast is startling and so freaking interesting at the same time. Anyway, meant to post that a long time ago. Enjoy!
